COSTAS ON THE RADIO
Saturdays 3pm-5pmAward-winning broadcaster Bob Costas is coming home to radio, reprising his very popular two-hour weekend show, “Costas on the Radio.” The program will feature conversations with newsmakers and significant figures from sports and other walks of life, as well as Costas’ own commentaries and observations.
Costas began his broadcast career at WAER, the on-campus radio station of Syracuse University. Soon after he worked at WSYR Radio in Syracuse, before joining radio powerhouse, KMOX, in St. Louis, at age 22, in 1974. A decade later he pioneered long-form nationally syndicated sports programming with the “Costas Coast-to-Coast” Sunday night show – one of the most successful radio sports programs ever. His television coverage of the Olympics, baseball, and just about every other major sport, is legendary, resulting in nineteen career Emmy’s at NBC and HBO.
“As much as I enjoy my television work, radio offers a different stage,” says Costas. “It’s broadcasting in its purest form, and this is an ideal opportunity to return to it. It fits my schedule, and we plan to do a show that’s entertaining, and at the same time, has some substance to it.”
